Founded in 1881 on the Isle of Islay, Bruichladdich Distillery has faced several challenges over the course of its history. After flourishing under various owners, it faced closure in 1994, however, in 2001, a group led by Mark Reynier and Jim McEwan revived the distillery, focusing on artisanal methods and terroir-driven whisky production. This resurrection brought innovative expressions like Octomore, the heavily peated single malt, and the unpeated Bruichladdich line.
In 2012, Rémy Cointreau acquired the distillery, signalling a new phase of investment and expansion. Despite this change, Bruichladdich maintained its commitment to sustainability and experimentation. Notable releases include the Classic Laddie, Port Charlotte, and Black Art series. The distillery's commitment to terroir, transparency, and distinct flavour profiles has garnered international acclaim. Bruichladdich continues to thrive as a cornerstone of Islay's whisky heritage, crafting expressions cherished by enthusiasts worldwide.
