Glen Mhor 1978 is a glimpse into a lost part of Highland whisky history, distilled at the Inverness distillery just five years before it closed for good in 1983. Aged for 14 years and bottled by Signatory Vintage in 1993, this release was drawn from casks 4041 to 4043, with only 2,400 bottles produced. Glen Mhor rarely appeared as an official single malt, making independent bottlings like this especially valuable for understanding the distillery’s character. Expect orchard fruit, soft malt and honey alongside wax, dried herbs, gentle spice and a slightly earthy old-fashioned note. Bottled at 43% ABV, it favours delicacy and detail over sheer power. Historic, understated and increasingly scarce, it’s a fascinating bottle from an Inverness distillery that disappeared before the modern single malt boom began.
