Hackstons, a thumbs up!

I found Hackstons easy to work with, from start to finish the whole process was seamless.
Thank you to Sam for his help and expert knowledge of the industry, very professional and reassuring from the off. I would be happy to recommend.

Here’s How The Process Works

1

Register Your Interest

Begin your journey by submitting your details through our enquiry form. This gives us the information we need to not just get in touch, but to support you properly from the outset.

Asset Frame 1
2

Receive Your Whisky Guide

You’ll instantly receive our comprehensive Whisky Investment Guide and be added to our introductory email series. While you wait to speak with our team, you’ll get a clear sense of how cask ownership works, who we are behind the scenes and what to expect from your whisky investment journey.

3

Speak With One of Our Whisky Experts

One of our Account Managers will get in touch to understand your goals and help identify the types of casks that align with your ambitions, whether that’s strong long-term growth, legacy planning, passion-led ownership or broader diversification.

Asset Frame 3
4

Reserve Your Cask

Once you’re ready to move forward, we’ll arrange a brief compliance call. A 10% deposit securely reserves your chosen cask(s) while we complete the next steps.

Asset Frame 4
5

Sign Your Documentation

Your contracts are sent digitally via DocuSign for clarity, convenience, and complete transparency.

Asset Frame 5
6

AML & Verification Checks

Standard Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks form part of our regulated process. These ensure your cask(s) purchase is compliant.

Asset Frame 6
7

Complete Your Purchase

Once verification is complete, we’ll issue your final invoice (minus your deposit). Payment is made via bank transfer. When received, you’ll get confirmation along with your Storage & Insurance setup forms.

Asset Frame 7
8

Access Your Client Portal

You’ll receive login details for your Hackstons Client Portal, where your Purchase Certificate and cask documentation live. This certificate acts as your proof of ownership until your Delivery Order is issued.

Asset Frame 8
9

Delivery Order Issued

When your cask arrives at one of our HMRC-regulated partner warehouses, a Delivery Order is created in your name. This is the formal transfer of ownership, and considered the ultimate proof that you own the cask. You will review and sign the document to complete registration.

Asset Frame 9

Monitor Your Cask Through Vapour

Once the Delivery Order is finalised, you’ll gain access to Vapour, our digital platform that tracks the age, health, and progression of your cask, much like checking a stock or share investment through an online app.

Sit Back and Let Time Do the Work

At this stage, your involvement is done. Your cask now enters its most important phase: maturation.

While there is a minimum hold period of 10 years, most of our clients understand that holding for 15 or even 20 years allows the whisky to build greater depth, complexity, and most importantly, value. During this period, your cask remains safely stored, insured, and quietly improving over time.

12

Ongoing Support

Your Account Manager and Client Relationship Manager will stay in touch throughout the year, keeping you informed, updated, and supported at every stage of ownership.

When the Time Comes to Exit

When you decide the moment is right, we’ll guide you through your options:

  • Sell your cask through established broker, bottler, or industry channels
  • Bottle it for personal enjoyment or gifting
  • Gift or transfer the cask as part of legacy planning

Whichever route you choose, our team is there to make the process seamless.
