Benriach at this age often shows a brighter, more energetic side, and this Hidden Spirits single cask shows exactly that. Distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2022, it’s drawn from a first-fill bourbon barrel, with just 240 bottles released. The cask takes the spotlight here, with fresh fruit, waves of buttery vanilla and a touch of nutmeg on the nose. On the palate, it moves into silky vanilla caramel, candied orange and toffee sponge, with a thread of peppery spice keeping things in check. The finish is easy-going but well defined, with honeyed nuts and a light oak char that rounds it off neatly, and it’s worth giving it a little time in the glass.
