Distilled in 1972 - widely regarded as one of the distillery’s finest years - and bottled in 1997 at a formidable 61.3% ABV, this 24-year-old single malt was part of Diageo’s now-iconic Rare Malts Selection: a series designed not for the supermarket shelf, but for serious whisky drinkers.Uncut, unfiltered, and untamed, this Highland dram delivers everything fans of old-school Clynelish adore: waxy texture, coastal freshness, citrus snap and that unmistakable minerality. If you're chasing whisky with real backbone, this one brings it in spades.
Nose - A wave of waxed lemons and beeswax hits first, chased by sea air, hay bales, and a lick of mineral oil. It smells like the Highlands by the coast, and then some.
Palate - Power and polish in one sip. Lemon zest and paraffin mingle with salt-crusted almonds and refined smoke. Firm oak spice provides structure, while that trademark Clynelish waxiness coats the palate like silk with attitude.
Finish - Long, structured and satisfyingly dry, with citrus, salt and smoke playing out in perfect proportion.
