Springbank 21 has built a bit of a reputation over the years, and the 2024 release shows exactly why. Drawn from a mix of casks and bottled at 46%, it keeps that familiar balance between weight, subtle smoke and coastal character. It opens with heather, plums, peach and a touch of honey, alongside a gentle waxiness and a hint of leather that adds depth early on. The palate is softer than you might expect, with caramelised fruit, raisin and cassis, with a sprinkling of cinnamon and vanilla, all held together by a light oak dryness, subtle wood smoke and a trace of the sea. The finish runs long, with aniseed and raisin sweetness, and it’s easy to see why it’s so highly regarded.
