The second edition in a remarkable collection that tells the story of The Macallan pioneers and their whisky-making legacy. Tales of The Macallan Volume II captures the spirit of Alexander Reid, founder of The Macallan. Fitting that, at our 200th anniversary, this edition depicts Alexander - Teacher, Farmer and Distiller - in his journey to mastery. Distilled in 1949 to Alexander’s masterful standards, this exceptionally rare malt is now encased in a bespoke, hand-crafted Lalique crystal decanter. The decanter in turn is concealed within an extraordinary 800-page tome with chapters beautifully illustrated by renowned artist, Andrew Davidson.
Nose - Rich forest fruits, sweet aromatic woodsmoke, antique oak, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla pods, subtle herbal note, treacle toffee.
Palate - Black cherries, plum jam, dark chocolate orange, almond and custard pastry, ginger sponge with hints of cloves, sweet woodsmoke and hint of loose tea leaves.
Finish - Long & complex, with a sweet lingering smokiness.
