The Stagg brand is named after George T. Stagg, a 19th-century bourbon pioneer who helped establish the Buffalo Trace Distillery as a leading producer of American whiskey. A highly sought-after expression from the Buffalo Trace Distillery, part of the renowned Stagg brand lineage that is released periodically and in limited quantities. The barrel-proof nature means that the alcohol content is usually above 60% ABV (120 proof), which enhances the flavors and makes it a powerful yet balanced bourbon. Mash bill is dominated by corn with above 75%, followed by Rye and a small percentage of Malted Barley to add complexity. The lack of filtration also means that the whiskey retains more of its natural oils and compounds, contributing to a fuller mouthfeel and a longer lasting pleasant finish.
