Caperdonich has become one of Speyside’s most sought-after lost distilleries, having closed in 2002 before its buildings were eventually demolished. This Artful Dodger bottling was distilled in 1995 and matured for 29 years in a first-fill bourbon hogshead, cask #95065, allowing the distillery’s naturally fruity character to develop remarkable depth while keeping its freshness. Bottled at natural cask strength, it opens with pineapple, waxed lemon and ripe orchard fruit, followed by vanilla, honey, coconut and a gentle note of polished oak. Time in cask brings weight and complexity, though the palate remains bright, with pepper and warming spice carrying the finish. Rare, mature and full of character, it is a fine example of why well-aged Caperdonich has become so prized among collectors and drinkers alike.
