At Hackstons we have found that one of the biggest perks of investing in whisky is the social side, our team is always keen for our clients to network and embrace the ecosystem that surrounds our favourite drams, at its heart scotch whisky is something to be shared. We are delighted to be taking some of our clients to Scotland in March for our Whisky Experience weekend.
Taking place over two days our clients will get the chance to immerse themselves in the world of whisky. The first stop on our tour will be the prestigious Tullibardine distillery, a popular choice for our cask investors. Nestled within the picturesque Ochil Hills, the distillery stands on the ‘gateway to the Highlands’. Standing on a 400 million year old lava escarpment from Scotland’s antediluvian past. It is this unique geological feature that creates the high quality of Tullibardine, due to the high quality of the spring from which the distillery draws its water. In fact Tullibardine shares the same source as the Highland Spring water bottling plant.
The Tullibardine distillery is owned by the distinguished French vinter family company, Maison Michel Picard. This gives Tullibardine unprecedented access to some of the highest quality Burgundy and Chateau de Chassagne Montrachet casks, for the scotch to mature in.
Careful management by Picard has led to Tullibardine building a reputation for excellence with an extremely refined profile whose prestige and french heritage has made it one of the more popular single malts in Western Europe.
The tour will give us an in depth look at the distillation process behind the creation of scotch whisky as well as details as to how casks are stored in HMRC bonded warehouses. Of course, you’ll hopefully get a chance to try some fantastic whiskies.
The second part of this veritable scotch safari will be taking place in Edinburgh at the immersive Johnnie Walker Experience. Here we will explore the eight different floors dedicated to the world’s most popular scotch whisky, guiding us through a multisensory journey through the world of whisky with plenty of chances to take in the sights, smells and tastes! Having been designed by the legendary team behind the NASA Kennedy Space Centre, this is certainly one of the highlights of the trip.
Don’t worry if you cannot attend this next client event, there is more to come in the future so make sure to keep your eyes peeled!
