Aged for nine years on its lees before release, Pol Roger’s 2002 Vintage, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest, has developed the depth and complexity that make mature Champagne so compelling. Confit lemon, baked apple and freshly baked bread lead the way, followed by notes of honeycomb, brioche and toasted nuts. The palate is rich and vinous, balancing ripe orchard fruit and citrus peel with a fine mineral backbone that keeps everything in check. Long, poised and beautifully expressive, it has the remarkable precision and longevity for which the 2002 vintage is celebrated.
