Distilled in Nairobi, Kenya, our gins are the world’s first to use indigenous African Juniperus Procera, harvested just 70 kilometres away in Kijabe and handpicked from trees growing at an altitude of 2,200 metres. With all other botanicals sourced from across Africa, Procera expresses the terroir of our continent in every sip. Every decision at Procera begins and ends with an evaluation of quality, longevity, and flavour. From our reforestation program for the Kenyan highlands (10,000 Procera trees planted to date) to our recycled, hand-blown glass bottle and our collaboration with local farmers and artisans, we believe doing the right thing creates better gin. At Procera, we are the pioneers of the use of the high-altitude African Juniperus Procera berry which we distil fresh and never-dried, unlike almost all other gins. We use a total of eleven botanicals, grown across our vast continent, by some of the most passionate and dedicated farmers in Africa. From the plains of Morocco in the northwest to the Indian Ocean islands in the south-east, Africa’s sun and soils create an elegant gin of distinction with a nutty, bright flavour profile truly representative of its African sun-kissed terroir and birthplace. We harvest our Procera berries with the help of the local community at the end of the long, annual mid-year rains. As such, our Blue Dot Gin displays a distinct flavour and aromatic profile reflecting that year's climatic conditions. No two Year will be the same, creating vintages unique to their harvest. Our recycled, hand-blown glass bottles are hand engraved with their unique number and each bottle is sealed with a hand-made carved stopper, adorned with an African leather strap. Our bottle’s defining quality is its simplicity: one piece of glass, one piece of wood, and one piece of leather, with no label to hide the artistry of the liquid itself.
Nose - Bright, lifted and juniper-forward with delicate zesty citrus undertones set against a herbal, lightly nutty, backdrop. Complex, inviting and multi-faceted with an abundance of juniper-derived personality.
