Rare Millésime 2008 captures one of Champagne’s most celebrated modern vintages with remarkable precision and energy. The blend is led by Chardonnay, supported by Pinot Noir from Grand Cru vineyards, giving the wine both crystalline freshness and quiet depth. After extended ageing on its lees, it has developed layers of complexity while keeping the taut, mineral character that defines the year. White flowers, Williams pear and mandarin sit alongside fresh almond, vanilla and subtle coconut, with pineapple, passion fruit and citrus bringing a brighter edge across the palate. Fine bubbles and a saline, lightly smoky finish add to the sense of focus. Elegant, poised and still strikingly youthful, it’s a prestige Champagne with the structure to continue evolving, though it already feels beautifully complete alongside oysters, grilled fish or refined seafood dishes.
