Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat is best known for its holdings in Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny, and even its regional Bourgogne carries the same careful, understated approach. The 2018 was hand-harvested, destemmed and fermented with native yeasts before ageing in barrel, allowing the warmth of the vintage to show through without masking the fruit. Ripe raspberry, blackberry and red cherry lead into violet, woodland earth and a touch of sweet spice, with silky tannins and fresh acidity keeping the wine lively. There is more texture and concentration than the appellation might suggest, though the overall feel remains bright and finely drawn. Generous, polished and quietly serious, it gives a clear glimpse of a top domaine’s house style. Serve at 14–16°C with charcuterie, roast chicken, pork or simple mushroom dishes.
