Hailing from Barbados and guided by fourth-generation master distiller Richard Seale, this is rum in its most honest form. The 28th release in the award-winning Exceptional Cask Selection brings together pot and column still rums, all tropically aged, with parts matured separately in ex-bourbon and Madeira casks before being combined as one and left to settle for 14 years. On the nose, sultanas, ripe pineapple and orange peel come through first, followed by butterscotch, nutmeg, cinnamon and crystallised ginger. The palate is rich and powerful, yet balanced, showing baked banana, cacao, plum and raisin with a final hint of wood smoke on the finish. Bottled at 62% ABV, this is a deeply sought-after rum made for slow sipping and special moments, rarely staying on shelves for long.
